With so much effort placed on preparing the main dish of a delicious Thanksgiving feast—should you cook the turkey in the oven? On the smoker? Or deep-fried? Don’t let dessert be an after-thought. If you’re crunched on time or simply don’t fancy yourself a baker, consider leaving it to a professional. This holiday season, Hinman Pie is offering 6-inch and 9-inch pies including Toffee Pecan, Salted Maple, Apple and Pumpkin Pies. Additionally, the boutique bakery will offer savory versions including Chicken Pot, Pork Green Chili and Cowboy Pie. With a passion to help others in the restaurant industry, owner John Hinman has created a non-profit called Culinary Hospitality Outreach and Wellness (CHOW) to support hospitality workers struggling with mental health and addiction. “Ten percent of total sales will go to CHOW,” says Hinman whose quiet motto is, “It’s not about the pies, this is what it’s all about for me.” Be sure to order in advance (for Thanksgiving, order by November 23) and the easiest method of ordering is online at hinmanpie.com. Pies will be available for pickup at Hinman Pie 5604 Kendall Ct., Arvada. Additionally, pre-order pickup will be available at Nowhere Coffee airstream trailer (in front of the Rock Drill Lofts) on Tuesday and Wednesday at 1777 E. 39th Ave., Denver.
