WHY GO NOW? Overnight on the first Friday of the month through October, you can shop the Union Station Farmers Market with the personable and impassioned executive chef Christian Graves. You’ll take home fresh produce and the chef’s advice on what to do with it all.
WHAT YOU GET: You get the same pampering everyone gets at the year-old Born—a wine-and-beer social hour at 5 p.m.; complimentary coffee and tea in the morning; luxurious rooms with a cool, contemporary, and soundproof design; a lobby built for guest interaction; and one of the best locations in town, atop the train platform behind Union Station. In the morning you’ll meet the chef in the lobby and shop for about an hour. Your stay finishes with a cooking demonstration at Citizen Rail and then a three-course lunch with wine and cocktail pairings.
THE EXTRAS: The Born’s location makes it an easy walk to the Pepsi Center, Union Station light-rail stop, and Coors Field—but you can also borrow one of the hotel bikes or, within a two-mile radius, get a chauffeured ride in the Born Tesla. We loved the civilized noon checkout, which extends to 2 p.m. for the Shopping with the Chef package.
