In my past life working at international lifestyle publications, September was traditionally reserved for the ladies. Fashion’s biggest month, the biggest issue of the year, and, thanks in no small part to Vogue, The September Issue. Well, this is our September issue. And this one’s for the guys. Sort of.
I’m certainly not here to suggest that women care about fashion while men would rather be fishing or kicking around a ranch. I happen to enjoy all three. But I do love the idea of taking an issue to tip our hats to the men in our lives and to a side of Colorado that feels decidedly masculine.
And there’s plenty of it in these pages. Our September issue takes us to ranches, rivers, and the wilder corners of Colorado. But what I like most about calling this our Men’s Issue isn’t drawing a line between what’s his and what’s hers. It’s celebrating the things traditionally associated with masculinity that all of us can appreciate: adventure, craftsmanship, grit, good style, and maybe a really great whiskey at the end of the day. Which is, coincidentally, one of my favorite ways to spend an evening.
It’s also a chance to celebrate good men. The ones who show up, work hard, and take care of their communities. So, yes, September traditionally belongs to fashion. Around here, we’re giving it a little more grit. And ladies, you’re invited too.
