For owner and jewelry designer Aria Agarwal, creating jewelry has always been in the cards. “My passion for gemstones and jewelry goes back to when I was three years old, identifying gems and minerals at my first gem show. I was immediately hooked. Everything I did as a young girl became centered around how I could turn both my love for minerals and my love of art into a career.”
From a Young Age
Agarwal, with a background in metalsmithing, education from the world-renowned Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and certifications in diamond grading, gemstone identification, and hand- and computer-rendered design, decided pursuing her own jewelry design company was exactly the career she wanted. Her brand, Eleux, which stems from “exclusive luxury,” comprises captivating jewelry (even simply by photo). Bright, striking colors of amazonite, jasper and Iolite—plus more well-known names like emeralds, sapphires, and rubies—catch and hold attention with all the sparkle and bang of hand-crafted, luxury jewelry.
Fine Designs
Eleux offerings primarily include earrings, rings, and necklaces, with a special Once a Week series of unique pieces. Each available item includes a detailed description of every gem and metal used, so customers can also request custom commissions based on styles they like. The Luminescent Glow Earrings, for example, are a new release consisting of diamonds, chrysoprase, fossilized coral, and opalized wood, wrapped in 14k yellow gold and priced at $2,500.
“I start the design process by first selecting a centerpiece, usually a brightly colored and uniquely patterned gemstone,” says Agarwal. “I then build around that focus point with additional gems in either complimentary or contrasting colors.” The gemologist notes that a lot of her inspiration comes from nature, traveling, and architecture, and sometimes just the gemstones themselves. “I view each gemstone as a piece of art, encompassing so many different elements.”
More in Store
Agarwal, though just starting out, is loving the excitement of building her brand. She also hopes to further expand her custom bridal services, showcasing some examples of engagement rings on her website. “I enjoy creating one of each design because I believe every person should have a piece of jewelry that is tailored to their specific lifestyle and reflect who they are individually. Ultimately, I want Eleux jewelry to create the feeling of exclusivity and confidence for the wearer.”
