Hours

4–6 p.m. daily

The scene

It was a summer’s eve when DLM researched LoHi’s Truffle Table, and we couldn’t help but fantasize about sitting at a window-side table for two holding hands with that SS (that’s Special Someone, acronym lovers) and gazing out at falling snow. The small corner shop, which is the offspring of the Truffle Cheese Shop on East 6th Ave., oozes Parisian style, and it’s our pick for a Valentine’s Day month happy hour.

What to drink

You can get a craft beer here for $3 during happy hour, but what goes better with the house specialty than wine? At happy hour, you’ll have a choice of a nice pour of today’s bubbles, white, or red for $6. And it won’t be something you’ll find at the grocery store for $6 a bottle.

What to eat

Cheese, cheese, and, um, cheese! We did enjoy the Daily Dip ($5), served with flatbread and crackers. But the Truffle Table has dozens of cheeses on its list daily, and you can pick three for $11. Our server helped us choose: the Rustico black pepper sheep’s milk cheese from Italy; the unusual, ribbon-like Tete de Moine cow’s milk cheese from Switzerland; and the wonderful goat’s milk cheese from Murcia, Spain, called Cana de Cabra. Next time, we’ll have six, please.
