Happy Hour: Humboldt Farm Fish Wine

This City Park West spot has one of our favorite happy hours in the city.

Hours

3-6 p.m., seven days a week

The scene

Humboldt’s big patio on the corner of Humboldt and 17th Avenue overflows with happy hour patrons, because even if a stop here isn’t part of your plan as you pass by, the plates on the tables are powerful magnets. It’s a mellow vibe, with people of all ages settling in to watch the clouds and the traffic while they eat their vegetables. (Yes, we said vegetables.)

What to drink

There’s something for everyone among Humboldt’s $6 happy hour cocktails, which include a Signature Martini, a Basil Martini, and an Elderflower Old Fashioned that we plan to try making at home (bourbon, St. Germain, bitters, lemon, and orange peel). Six wines start at $5, and a nice selection of beers starts at $4.

What to eat

Here’s a rare happy hour where vegetables star. Seriously! You can find Kale Salad ($5.50) and Shishito Peppers ($6.75), but get wild and order the addictive Crispy Broccoli ($5.75). Fried yet gluten-free, served with a pepperoncini aioli, it deserves the adjective “sinful.” Carnivores, Humboldt makes an award-winning burger and serves up a mini-version at happy hour for $4.50. Add a side of the Truffle Fries ($6.75) and you’ll be set for the evening.
