Home: Golden Opportunity

A new build in a mountain town gets a striking landscape design (with no lawn in sight!) that is both industrial and modern.

Warm welcome

The front mirrors the back, with board-form concrete serving as the base and a cor-ten steel planter holding a showy bristlecone pine and blonde ambition grass.

Self-contained

The huge L-shaped custom raised planters, made of cor-ten steel, whose deep color complements the setting, help frame the space. They are filled with a range of plantings, including colorado manzanita, autumn brilliance serviceberry, red yucca, heavy metal switchgrass, sunset hyssop, angelina sedum, crystal river veronica, yellow ice plant, and little trudy catmint.

Private path

A walkway on the side of the backyard passes beneath striking I-beams that will eventually be covered with the amethyst falls wisteria, making for a beautiful arbor.
