As cooler weather rolls in and outdoor venues quiet down, the Ivy Ballroom is heating up. Since opening in 2018, the Buena Vista treasure has become one of Colorado’s most intimate and eclectic music destinations. Nestled inside the Surf Hotel, the Ivy Ballroom blends old-world architecture with a cutting-edge sound system, creating an atmosphere that rivals the state’s top venues.
“The Ivy Ballroom was created to bring top-level artists into a small-capacity space, where it feels like you’re in the front row, no matter where you stand,” says talent buyer and concert manager Eddie Sandoval. It’s a vision that has drawn artists who could easily fill venues like Red Rocks, yet choose the Ballroom for its unique mix of elegance, sound quality, and mountain-town charm.
The setting is as enchanting as the sound. Arched windows, soaring ceilings, and chandeliers frame views of the Arkansas River and surrounding peaks. And when the encore ends, guests can head upstairs to a cozy hotel suite or unwind in the saltwater hot pool.
Programming is just as thoughtful. “We aim to connect with as many music lovers as possible,” Eddie emphasizes. The genre-spanning lineup includes Americana, bluegrass, funk, electronic, and jazz, with past performances from Band of Horses, Dirtwire, Elephant Revival, and Trevor Hall.
This winter, that momentum continues. With more concerts on deck, the Ivy Ballroom is expecting its biggest off-season yet—proving that in Colorado, the music doesn’t stop when the snow falls. It evolves.
