One of its most innovative offerings is the new BBL Moxi treatment. “This is the most revolutionary laser on the market,” says Jackie McDowell, co-founder and medical director. “It took us years to save up for this. The before and after photos have been fantastic, even after just one treatment.”
I stopped into the med spa to try it out myself. We started with Moxi, which stimulates the body’s natural repair process by creating micro-injuries on the surface, stimulating production of fresh, healthy skin cells. It’s a quick treatment but requires numbing cream beforehand as it’s harsher on your skin. I left feeling a little sunburned but woke up looking a lot more radiant, with visibly improved texture and tone. While Moxi works at polishing the skin’s surface, BBL gets at the deeper issues. BBL uses intense pulsed light to kill off harmful bacteria, target pigmentation deep within the skin—effectively treating acne scars, sun damage, age spots, and other skin imperfections—and stimulate collagen and elastin production. The pain is minimal, more of a heated tingling sensation, and leaves no visible marks.
Immediately after the treatment, and for the next two weeks, the acne scars that McDowell spot-treated with the BBL laser appeared darker as the pigmentation rose to the surface before disappearing altogether. Now, my skin looks like it’s been airbrushed, with a more even tone, smoother texture, and pores that appear to have done the impossible— shrink! McDowell told me a typical treatment plan includes a series of three to six sessions of each laser, with optional maintenance afterward. You bet I’ll be back.
