While Nissan’s mainstream offerings face challenges, its luxury Infiniti division shows plenty of swagger with the much-anticipated 2025 QX80 SUV. The up-to-eight-passenger Infiniti flagship was long overdue for major revisions, and this reinterpreted behemoth is flashier and classier than ever—with style and tech to help it better compete with BMW’s X7, the Audi Q7, and Lexus’s LX.
Infiniti has also done the impossible, crafting a vehicle that’s wider, taller, and has more cargo and passenger room while also being more powerful and fuel-efficient at the same time. The new QX80 has dropped the old 400-hp 5.6-liter V8 and added a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that’s good for 450 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, with 17 combined city/highway mpg, a 2-mpg increase. It’s also got more ground clearance and can be outfitted with wheels as big as 22 inches.
The QX80’s profile remains strikingly imposing, with a new wavy, futuristic grille, thigh-height headlamps, and a monobrow of rear brake lamps, as well as pop-out door handles. Walk up in the dark, and the glowing Light Path puts on a full light show to assist passengers boarding the behemoth machine.
Inside, Infiniti joins the contemporary trend of information overload, with two conjoined 14.3-inch instrument and navigation displays featuring Google built-in services. There’s a further nine-inch touchscreen for heating and air conditioning controls.
A fully adjustable ambient lighting system and a wideview front camera are also modern touches, as are an optional chilled console box, an optional in-car camera, and a 1,200-watt Klipsch audio system, including speakers in the front headrests. And, in classic Infiniti style, the cabin is still flush with quilted leather in all three rows, plus available first- and second-row massage seating and infrared-sensor quick-cooling functionality.
