It may look like a sleek espresso machine, but that’s not a caffeine buzz you’re feeling. The Lēvo oil infusers are kitchen appliances that infuse and mix herbs and oils together to create anything from salad dressings to salves, tinctures to topicals—and cannabis concoctions, too. An herb is an herb after all, as Denver-based Lēvo founder Chrissy Bellman often says. Bellman came up with the concept after watching her roommates struggle to make infusions, creating a mess, smelling up the dorm room, and arguing about best practices the whole time. She knew there had to be a better way.
Bellman had always been a go-getter, studying philosophy and finance in college and pursuing a career on Wall Street. But the idea for what became Lēvo hit her like a bolt of lightning, and she knew she had to pursue it. “I’ve always been a very planned person, trying to optimize everything and adding value,” Bellman explains. “The idea for Lēvo really stopped me in my tracks and made me question what I wanted to do with my career.”
Lēvo devices are super easy to use, and infusing oils is as easy as making a cup of coffee: simply fill the herb pod with your choice of herb, put it in the reservoir, fill the reservoir with your carrier oil of choice (you can also use butter or really any kind of fat), hit the “infuse” button, and let the Lēvo work its magic. No additional filtering required. The all-in-one Lēvo II model is able to dry, decarb, and infuse any herb or botanical into oil, butter, honey, and all sorts of other ingredients. The sleek machines, available in a spectrum of catchy hues, boast a range of functions and features to simplify the process, including a cannabis-specific “activate” mode, which preps the plant to release its elevating effects.
It’s the perfect addition to the kitchen of anyone who’s super into natural foods, wants to control their ingredients, and cares about the quality of what they consume. And it’s not just for food. Bellman uses hers to make body scrubs, lotions, and bath bombs, while others prefer to stick to edible concoctions. Whichever way you want to go, Lēvo’s website has a plethora of recipes to help get your creative juices flowing. From lavender-infused sesame oil to Blue Dream-enhanced butter and beyond, there’s no limit to the range of concoctions you can DIY. And when you’re done, just toss the components in the dishwasher and call it a day.
