Katie Weaver is a mother of five, which means her days are full of snack negotiations, searches for missing shoes, and the daily scramble of trying to get everyone out the door on time. She recently traded in her car for an eight-seat Toyota Sequoia, a fitting upgrade for a family that’s always in motion. But somewhere between carpools and chaos, she has built a career as a children’s book author. Katie’s latest release, Have You Ever Wondered?, hit the shelves early this year and offers a refreshingly original take on the genre.
The book invites readers to explore life’s big questions through curiosity and imagination. Each page begins with a simple question: Have you ever wondered…what would happen if you tried? Dreamed? Failed? Changed? Cared? Spoke up? Through those questions, Katie hopes to encourage children to imagine the possibilities and discover what those experiences might teach them. The idea took root in her own home, stemming from her own children’s questions of “why?” and “what if?”
“At its heart, the book is about discovering who we are and who we’re becoming,” Katie explained. “It celebrates curiosity, resilience, kindness, courage, vulnerability, joy, and the understanding that growth isn’t about having all the answers— it’s about being willing to ask the questions.”
But Katie’s tome is more than a cute picture book. She hopes to spark meaningful conversations between parents and children, and earn a permanent spot in the nightly rotation of, “Can we read it one more time?”
Katie’s path to writing began with bedtime stories, long before any of them made it to print. One especially loud thunderstorm left her kids too scared to sleep, so she improvised: a family of pie-baking dinosaurs who loved to stomp and roar, until they were calm enough to drift off despite the storm outside their windows.
That story became her first book, When the Sky Roars. “That little bedtime story changed my life,” Katie expressed. “It showed me that stories can do more than entertain—they can help children laugh, imagine, and even face their fears. That’s what inspired me to become an author, and it’s still the reason I write today.”
Katie pours her real life into every book she writes: the laughter, the chaos, the imagination, and the love. She hopes her stories leave their mark on both parents and the kids, and give both a reason to look at their own lives with a little more wonder.
