Elite athletes are always hunting for that elusive edge—something to trigger their flow state and elevate their performance. While some rely on music, energy drinks, or lucky charms, former World Cup freestyle mogul skier Michelle Roark needed something a little more on the nose: A custom scent, scientifically crafted to amplify her body’s natural frequency and instantly bring her into the zone.
Roark, a Colorado School of Mines graduate, calls it “quantum nutrition,” a pioneering approach that combines energy science with aromatherapy to supercharge the mind and body. “We all have a scent more unique than our fingerprint,” she explains. “At Phia Lab, we call this your signature frequency. Once we determine your frequency, we match it to one of our products that will amplify your energy. It blows out tangles in your energy body, helping you become the best and brightest version of yourself.”
Roark has seen customers lose weight, improve their sleep routines, achieve career milestones, and move away from depression medications in favor of her energy-balancing products. It was also a driving force behind Roark’s exceptionally long mogul skiing career (18 years) and athletic longevity—she’s still throwing backflips off the moguls well into her 40s.
To determine a person’s signature frequency, Phia Lab uses a quick online survey with questions like: “If you walked through a rainbow, which color would resonate with you most?”
By applying her analytical skills to this subjective field, Roark refined the process over a decade, comparing quiz results with biofeedback metrics to develop an algorithm that identifies the right energy fit with 89% accuracy. Once you know your frequency, you can use the products, which range from lotions, mists and serums to organic loose teas, in that same range to amplify your state of being.
After taking the test, I discovered my frequency is 260 kJ/mol—in Phia Labs vernacular, “Imagination”—and dabbled with Phia’s Energy Bouquet (a perfume-like blend of essential oils) and teas. The bouquets are the line’s most potent products, containing 20 undiluted essential oils. “It’s like a multivitamin for your energy body,” Roark says, explaining that when we get sick, our energy body first catches it before our physical body. Supporting your energy acts as a preventive treatment that promotes well-being before it’s threatened. Roark swears by the loose-leaf tea, sharing that “for the last six years, I’ve had my children drink this tea every morning, and they haven’t gotten sick once. Not even a cold.”
While I’m no mogul master like Roark, I’ve found that incorporating her energy-balancing products into my routine has given me renewed focus and calm—including on the slopes. Whether it’s carving through fresh powder or tackling life’s daily challenges, these products might just be the little edge I didn’t know I was looking for.
