As a journalist, a big part of my job is experiencing what our amazing city has to offer so I can write about it. Recently, I was invited to check out Kona Grill’s new “Date Night” menu and thought who better to bring than my magazine sidekick Tom Visocchi (our creative director). After all, we had just put our latest issue to bed. Time to celebrate!
Their “Date Night” option for two, which is also ideal for after-work drinks or a girls’ night out, is available Sunday through Wednesday at $39 each. We started with the Lobster Toast, a curated combo of spicy lobster mix, sliced avocado, microgreens, maldon salt and buttered French toast— and ordered a Watermelon Margarita and the Margarita Flight, which comes with your choice of three flavors. For the mains (all shareable) we ordered the Assorted Sushi Board featuring spicy crunchy tuna roll, salmon sushi, tuna sushi, yellowtail sushi, shrimp sushi, eel sushi and cucumber salad; as well as the melt-in-your-mouth Korean 5-Spiced Ribs topped with miso BBQ sauce, Asian slaw and fries. Everything was made to perfection.
Lastly, we couldn’t leave without trying the Double-Stack Brownie (my favorite) but will keep their other desserts in mind for next time: three-layered Carrot Cake, New York Cheesecake and warm Original Butter Cake with raspberry sauce and vanilla bean ice cream. “Our ‘Date Night’ menu is becoming more popular,” explains Dana Sanchez, Kona Grill’s Manager. “Especially with all of the arts festivals and events happening in Cherry Creek. You just can’t beat the proximity to everything including our phenomenal food and drinks.” Kona Grill is located off 1st Ave., next to Neiman Marcus, in front of the valet entrance and across the street from West Elm.
