Bedroom #2
Based in the heart of Denver, Caity Rose Interiors is where technical precision meets thoughtfully curated design. Founded and led by interior designer Caitlyn (Caity) Rose Johnson, who holds a formal degree in Interior Architecture & Design, the studio effortlessly bridges the gap between smart spatial planning and luxury aesthetics. From full design-build partnerships and custom remodels to complete finish packages, Caitlyn works alongside homeowners, general contractors, investors, and builders to bring these elevated designs to life.
For the showhouse, Caity transformed the upper-level south bedroom and ensuite bathroom, proving that small spaces can have special touches even when they aren’t the focal point of the entire home. She elevated the space through clever, tasteful architectural trim and custom detailing that instantly gave the footprint character and charm.
Think of styling as the icing on the cake—that extra bit of personality unique to whoever calls the house home. Because Caity’s true focus is crafting the core interior envelope, by specializing in building rich, texture-filled palettes that set the perfect stage for you to bring in your own personal touches.
Designer Interview
How would you describe your design style and point of view?
I don’t believe in forcing spaces into a single, rigid design box. My style is constantly evolving, shaping itself around every project and every client I work with. Whether partnering with a builder, an investor, or a homeowner, my role isn’t to impose my personal aesthetic—it’s to take your vision and elevate it into something truly exceptional.
And if you don’t know where to start? Don’t worry, that’s where I step in. I help narrow down the noise, guiding you toward the right architectural and aesthetic inspiration to build a clear, confident direction we can work from together.
At my core, I favor order over chaos. I’m drawn to character, charm, and architectural intention, but I prefer to create depth through rich, layered textures rather than heavy, distracting patterns. Rather than chasing fleeting trends or sticking strictly to traditional definitions of “modern” or “classic,” my focus is on crafting a feeling.
To me, the real magic of interior architecture happens at the cross-section of styles. By pulling inspiration from across the design spectrum and anchoring it with timeless, structural elements, we create spaces that feel entirely bespoke, deeply personal, and designed to endure.
What drew you to this space, and what excited you most about designing it?
I’ve always believed that secondary spaces deserve just as much design love as the headline rooms—they just require a different kind of creative problem-solving. That’s precisely what drew me to this secondary bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. Plus the view from this space of the lake is stunning, giving an ideal opportunity to bring the outdoors in!
What excited me most was the challenge of balancing three key elements:
- Creative Resourcefulness: Every build team works within a budget, meaning supporting rooms need smart, high-value design decisions rather than endless splurge items.
- Subtle Personality: I wanted the bathroom to feel unique, fun, and elevated, but without screaming for attention or competing with the rest of the home. Notice how the checkerboard tile plays with the light due to the matte finish of the green tile and the glossy finish of the fawn tile. Allowing the light to dance in the space off of the varying textures adds a fun element of surprise.
- Warm Minimalism, Rich Character: By leaning into a rich, neutral foundation layered with thoughtful trim work and texture, the space feels universally inviting to any end user while remaining completely timeless. Notice the natural stone flooring, warm wood vanity, green accents, and pebble shower floor that speak to nature and ground the space.
Proving that a small, functional room can catch your eye while remaining cohesive with the other designed spaces is the most rewarding part of the entire project.
Describe the vision for your room in three words—and why those words matter.
Classic – Quiet – Elemental
- Classic: Paying homage to past eras through a modern lens. Custom wall trim and tailored ceiling details makes the space feel both culturally rich and effortlessly relevant.
- Quiet: Prioritizing restraint over visual noise. Soft, muted hues create a serene backdrop of quiet elegance—proof that design doesn’t need high-contrast drama to make a statement.
- Elemental: Grounded in raw, organic materials—honed marble, rich wood tones, pebble tiles, and sage accents. Connecting the space to nature brings a timeless, restorative feel.
