Designer Interview
What was the overall vision for your space?
We wanted to stick to a neutral palette while using unique finishes that were either tactile or visually compelling. Using a more neutral color palette gave the natural materials we used a chance to shine, which I think encompasses the overall California aesthetic the team wanted to achieve for the house.
What’s your favorite thing about your space?
The interesting tile combinations we used at the bar area add so much texture and subtle wow factor, along with the large window that looks through into the wine room. It’s an intriguing view into the homeowner’s personal wine collection and entices you to walk inside and take a peek.
What advice would you give to homeowners regarding the key things to keep in mind when designing (your) space?
Make sure to stay true to your priorities in what you want out of your recreation area. Design for your current needs as a family or household, and not how you anticipate you’ll utilize the space in 10 years. Begin with what you want to get out of your space and then go from there.
