What was the overall vision for your space?
We wanted the space to live up to its name and be a true homeowner’s retreat. A bedroom should be a serene calming space to wind down at night or ease into one’s day.
We tucked a cozy reading nook into the area adjacent to the bed to offer another place to curl up with a book. The sconces and floral wallpaper add texture and ambiance. The slightly opaque, flowy drapes help diffuse light from the amazing deck doors.

What’s your favorite thing about your space?
The wallpaper at the back of the built-in. Always wallpaper.

What advice would you give to homeowners regarding the key things to keep in mind when designing (your) space?
I think when creating a bedroom it’s important to know the atmosphere you want; spa like, restful, invigorating, moody, etc? What feeling do you want to have when you first wake up in the morning or when you retreat at night? How much time do you really spend in your bedroom? Key things to think about are the walls, wallpaper or paint? Next would be the bedding, it can be a great source of inspiration with prints or simple solids. For bedding, the type of materials you find comfortable is important. Do you want seasonal bedding? Make the room personal with family photos or a decorative object you picked up on a trip. Some form of seating is important from a functional standpoint. A chaise is a great piece for the bedroom or a bench to put on your shoes or pack for a trip.
