No one looks forward to a trip to the dentist. But what if oral care felt more like a spa day than a medical appointment? That’s exactly the experience The Hygienist Bar in Cherry Creek aims to create. With its stress-free, wellness-focused approach, this family-owned boutique is reimagining dental care as something you’ll actually enjoy. Instead of a cold, clinical setting, The Hygienist Bar offers plush heated massage chairs, personalized music, and a glass of wine or champagne before you receive pain-free teeth cleaning or whitening that feels more like a beauty treatment than a chore.
“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always hated going to the dentist,” says Garrett Smith, cofounder and COO. “It was stressful, uncomfortable, and something I dreaded. So, when my mom talked to me about her vision to transform the way we treat oral health, I was completely intrigued.” Together, Garrett and his mother, Tonya, opened The Hygienist Bar in early 2025.
“Oral health is critical for our whole health and well-being,” says Tonya. “It is closely linked to our gut health, cancer, Alzheimer’s, infertility, stroke, hypertension, post-surgery recovery, sleep, breath, and much more. We need to start taking better preventative care and getting our teeth cleaned more often—ideally six times a year instead of just two.”
I booked myself a teeth-cleaning session on a Saturday morning, treating it as part of my regular self-care routine, much like my monthly facials. A trained hygienist used a Swiss Guided Biofilm Therapy system, in which warm water, rather than cold, hard metal, removes plaque and bacteria. Luxurious add-ons, like a massaging eye mask, customized music, and a heated weighted blanket, distracted me from any slight discomfort.
The Hygienist Bar also offers teeth whitening services, performed while you relax in heated massage chairs with large TVs. In addition, the boutique offers Botox and facial contouring treatments. Its top-of-the-line products include DJ Khaled’s Audrezzi line of gold-infused mouthwash, toothpaste, and brushes, along with David Beckham’s IAM8 wellness supplements.
