Range Rover Brings Quiet Luxury to Colorado Trails

Sleek and exceptionally capable, the top-of-the-line Range Rover mixes luxurious appointments with off-roading abilities that remain core to its DNA.

As other brands tilt toward futuristic, smooth-edged SUVs that mix fulsome comfort with extreme capability, Range Rover continues to occupy the top shelf of class and poise with luxurious vehicles that literally invented the big-box genre.

Range Rover’s eponymous top-of-the-line, full-sized model offers both standard and long-wheelbase models with room for up to seven, plus choices between two high-output gasoline V-8s and a 50-mile-electric-range plug-in hybrid. You can also add optional noise-canceling headrest speakers, anti-viral cabin air filtration, and a range of natural wood highlights to accentuate the luxurious experience.

Not surprisingly, the vehicle’s ultra-smooth silhouette makes for the ultimate stealth luxury ride. In Southern California, they’ve replaced Teslas as the ubiquitous upscale vehicle of choice, with Range Rover’s popular matte satin paint choice further camouflaged with a paparazzi- proof dull wrap job.

Here in Colorado, you’re free to celebrate Range Rover’s do-anything royal heritage with both a splashier body color (like the stunning metallic Velocity Blue or Sunrise Copper, an $8,450 option) and by actually heading off on a challenging summertime trail. Every model has built-in prowess to elegantly rival even the burliest overlanding 4×4, with all-wheel steering adding more agility on a narrow route.

Range Rover’s 2027 models bring back a few additional physical terrain response and audio volume controls to modify the all-touchscreen approach illustrated on Range Rover Sport, but interior looks are still exceptionally clean and minimalistic. Look for a limited-edition SV Ultra model in the quarter-million-dollar neighborhood, as well as hyper-British Westminster editions honoring London landmarks.

An all-electric Range Rover is also planned to make its debut, though the extended dithering related to sister brand Jaguar’s all-electrified makeover suggests a wait-and-see approach there.
