The tides and tastes of vehicle design have certainly changed in recent years, with multiple schools of thought about the way interior controls are handled. Some luxury brands still signal prestige with a forest of buttons—think Lexus, for instance—but the interior of the five-passenger 2026 Range Rover Velar is mostly notable for a complete absence of physical controls, save for a tiny, understated gear shift lever.

In keeping with the current, conjoined Range Rover style aesthetic, the sleek and low-roofed Velar—the company’s second-most-affordable choice in a four-model lineup at $61,500—has entirely moved its control suite to an 11.4-inch curved touchscreen it calls the Pivi Pro. Unlike the slightly bewildering multi-screen system found on older Velar models, the Amazon Alexa-embedded screen here discreetly allows easy access to daily functionality.

But beneath the clean design lies a serious set of capabilities. For those inclined to venture off-pavement, the Velar’s digital display reveals a wealth of technical tools: real-time data on water wading depth, terrain response modes, slope assist, and ride height adjustments. Need traction help in deep sand or mud? It’s all there—just a tap away, with no knobs, levers, or switches in sight.

Under the hood, buyers can choose between a 247-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (delivering a respectable 26 mpg on the highway) or upgrade to the Dynamic HSE’s 394-horsepower 3.0-liter mild-hybrid inline-six. That latter option—capable of hitting 155 mph—adds a playful performance edge, complete with G-force and lap-time readouts built right into the display, should you ever feel like testing the limits.
