In Boulder, where farmers’ market produce and ingredient transparency are practically a way of life, it was only a matter of time before that mindset extended to the dog bowl.

Lord Jameson is part of a growing wave of pet companies bringing the same standards people expect from their own food into the treat jar. The woman-owned brand, founded by Sarah Goldberger, is built around certified organic ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, and recipes grounded in whole foods rather than fillers. “When I looked at the pet space, I saw a massive gap,” Sarah says. “The same standards people applied to their own food weren’t being applied to their dogs.”

Today, the company operates from an 8,000-squarefoot USDA Organic and gluten-free-certified facility in Boulder, where research, production, and fulfillment take place under one roof. That hands-on approach is unusual in the pet industry, where many brands rely on large co-packers or overseas production.

For Sarah, the mission is deeply personal. “Organic is not a choice in my home. It’s a given,” she says. “In my eyes, dogs are family members too, and they deserve the same level of care we give our human children.”

That philosophy shows up in the ingredient list. Instead of corn or rice, the brand’s popular love puffs rely on organic sorghum, a drought-resistant grain rich in fiber and iron, aligning with Colorado’s sustainability-minded food culture. The treats are light, crunchy, and designed for everyday training or frequent rewards. The brand’s pill hider reflects that same thinking. “It never made sense to us that medication would be wrapped in treats made with inflammatory or artificial ingredients,” Sarah says.

Six years after launching the brand in her kitchen, Sarah’s vision remains straightforward: “Our belief is that dogs are our family and they inspire every treat we make.”
