Achieving luscious locks isn’t just about the hair itself—it’s about the foundation: your scalp. So, on a mellow Saturday morning, I head to Skin & Muscles where hair care professional Bella Parrish dives deep to address the root of the problem with luxurious treatments designed to revitalize and rejuvenate. The salon uses products by Insight. “The Italian brand is held to much higher standards,” says Parrish. “You won’t find any unnecessary fillers in these products; they are truly organic.”

Her treatments begin with dry brushing, the ultimate way to exfoliate and remove dry skin. “If you do it once it’s wet, you will just be moving it around,” explains Parrish. Next, she massages a clarifying treatment to remove toxins and buildup, using a perfect combination of soft pressure and light scratching. She explains that this is both for my enjoyment and relaxation while also stimulating my hair follicles and encouraging them to open wider and receive the products. For the next step, she coats my hair in an oat extract deep conditioning treatment meant to hydrate, nourish, and calm. Instead of rinsing this out, Parrish places a halo showerhead over me that recycles the treatment through my hair. Again, the aim here is part pleasure, part scalp-pore stimulation to promote hair growth. She also uses a steamer that she says helps with moisture retention, locking in the hydration. The combined effect of the halo showerhead and steamer allows the product to penetrate deeply for maximum benefit. Next, she applies clarifying drops packed with rosemary, thyme, sage, and menthol properties that give my scalp a pleasant tingle. “They help with circulation and growth, especially the rosemary,” says Parrish. “And since they’re water-based, they won’t leave an oily cast.”

Each session is customized, so if you’re looking to take your hair game to the next level, start at the top—literally.
