Since 2006, Dress for Success Denver has been transforming lives by equipping women with the tools, confidence, and knowledge to build brighter futures. Part of a global movement, DFSD has supported over 20,000 women and provided more than $1 million in professional attire. But the organization’s mission goes far beyond clothing—it strives to equip women with the confidence, skills, and knowledge needed to achieve financial literacy and longterm economic independence.

Inspiring Confidence

For the past 17 years, executive director Amara Martin has championed diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the workplace while expanding DFSD’s reach and impact. “Dress for Success Denver is at the forefront of workforce development and economic empowerment for Denver-area women,” she says. “We inspire courage, confidence, and belief in women. We empower women to change their lives.”

One of DFSD’s signature programs is the acclaimed Suiting Program—a boutique experience where dedicated volunteers help women select professional clothing and accessories, ensuring they feel poised and prepared for interviews as they pursue employment opportunities. “We believe that every woman is the master of her own destiny. That’s why our programs are delivered one-on-one, tailored to meet individual needs,” says Martin.

Beyond attire, DFSD’s Career Coaching Program connects women with executive coaches who assist with resumes, software skills, and mock interviews to give them a competitive edge. The Going Places Network supports women entering or returning to the workforce with job-readiness programs, while the Professional Women’s Group fosters career growth and retention through access to ongoing resources and guidance. “PWG has grown from seven women to nearly 80, gathering monthly to network and support each other in their journeys to thrive in work and life,” Martin explains. “It’s a space where women connect with one another, industry professionals, and company leaders. Access to networks of other professionals— especially successful BIPOC women professionals—can be a game-changer.”
