While seeking a much-needed weekend away with an old friend, I stumbled across the beloved Table Mountain Inn in Golden’s historic downtown. This was our spot! Excited for a little downtime, my gal-pal and I took the short drive west of Denver where we were immediately greeted by the large ‘Welcome to Golden’ archway and marveled at the picturesque Table Mountains in the background setting.
The Table Mountain Inn is situated on Washington Avenue and stands out amongst the crowd with its easily recognizable adobe exterior and teal-colored accents.
When we arrived, the Inn’s calming ambience and welcoming staff made us feel right at home. During an informative property tour with Justin Ortiz, the director of operations, we admired the hotel’s historic features and beautiful event and meeting spaces. We couldn’t wait to enjoy the exercise room, indulge at the hotel’s restaurant, and take advantage of the fireplace and jet tub in our room. My favorite spot was the hotel’s patio, decorated with suspended twinkling lights. Next, we made dinner reservations at the Table Mountain Grill & Cantina.

Where To Dine
When we returned to Table Mountain Grill & Cantina for our evening reservation, we were given the option between an intimate restaurant setting or the casual bar area with numerous televisions for entertainment.
We opted for the restaurant and a comfortable booth, ordering two classic coin margaritas, which were nothing shy of delicious. The restaurant manager recommended that we select the chicken and steak fajitas, which were swiftly served and promptly devoured. Tip: Be sure to try the homemade guacamole, my personal favorite. Table Mountain Grill & Cantina also serves brunch, offering savory meals such as huevos rancheros and sweet treats like cinnamon roll pancakes.
Looking to get out? The front desk recommends Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza across the street, a local favorite, and Café 13. Located just around the corner, the café is the perfect stop for chai lattes and avocado toast.
Where To Stay
The hotel offers grand rooms, suites, and traditional rooms, each featuring comfortable seating, on-demand movies, complimentary tea or coffee, and sweeping views of Golden. We stayed in the Santa Fe Executive Suite, which, like the other suites, comes with a large, comfortable sitting room, an area to get work done on our laptops, a lovely fireplace, and two balconies with seating for some fresh air. The space was so enjoyable that it was hard to leave the next day.

What To Do
Work Up a Sweat
Elevate your heart rate in the exercise room or take a trip to the Golden Community Center, which is included with your stay. Reserve a time slot at the front desk to enjoy the center’s numerous fitness features including cardio machines, weight lifting, circuit training, wall climbing, swimming, and more. Afterwards, rest your muscles in the leisure pool, hot tub, or dry sauna.
Explore the Streets
The convenient location makes it easy to explore Washington Avenue and the surrounding historic downtown area. With coffee shops, eateries, boutiques, and fun activities, it’s hard to get bored. Take a picture in front of the Welcome to Golden sign or discover live entertainment at Miners Alley Playhouse. Colorado’s famous Coors Brewery is also only an eight-minute walk away. Stop by for a tour of the facility, alongside some refreshing brews.
Discover a Little More
As Ortiz told us, the Inn dates back to 1925. Many of the hotel’s features have gone unchanged, however, areas where preservation was not possible have undergone remarkable renovations, such as the recent Cantina remodeling. “Here at Table Mountain Inn, we try to avoid that cookie-cutter style of other hotels you usually see, and instead we like to make our spaces unique and something you might not expect.”
