The original piece symbolized early spring—soft pinks and whites to evoke flowers peeking through snow. But Hollier noticed the client was more of an autumnal soul and set out to create something new. “She wanted something inspired by fall, so I sent her a few ideas based on the season,” Hollier explains. “We settled on an opalescent sapphire center that reminded me of a frozen lake, with brown and green diamonds on the sides, like leaves falling at the change of the season.” The result is a stunning, one-of-a-kind ring that beautifully captures the essence of her client’s personality.
Hollier’s approach to design is like that of a documentarian, blending her voice with the narrative of her clients. “I think of jewelry designers as filmmakers—some have a very clear style, like the Wes Anderson of jewelry. But I’m more of a documentarian. I still have a clear voice, but it mutates and changes with the stories and goals of my clients.”
