For 125 years, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science has been a place where curiosity thrives and big questions come to life. It remains a testament to the vision of its founders and the support of countless donors, volunteers, and community members who believe in its mission to inspire curiosity, advance scientific understanding, and create a more informed and connected world.
In celebration of this milestone, the Museum invites you to the Galactic Gold Celebration — a spectacular event honoring 125 years of exploration and impact. On Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, the Museum will transform into a cosmic Western playground, blending frontier adventure with out-of-this-world wonder.
Since its incorporation in 1900, the Museum has ignited curiosity and inspired generations. What began with the passionate collections of naturalist Edwin Carter has blossomed into Colorado’s leading institution for scientific discovery, education, and community connection.
In 1908, the Museum opened its doors to the public, showcasing butterflies, moths, and crystallized gold. Over the decades, it earned acclaim for breathtaking dioramas that transported visitors to the savannas of Africa and the peaks of the Rockies. Additions like the Gates Planetarium and giant screen theater gave visitors new ways to experience the story of our planet.
Projects like the Snowmastodon excavation in 2010 and Teen-Rex in 2023 cemented the Museum’s place in scientific discovery.
At the Galactic Gold Celebration, guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, music, a silent auction, and science surprises. Whether in cowboy boots or a metallic jacket, you’ll fit right in.
VIP entry begins at 6 p.m.; general admission at 7 p.m. The 21+ event supports the Museum’s mission to inspire curiosity and lifelong learning.
As Edwin Carter famously stated, “a museum of natural history is never finished.” Come help launch the next century of science, wonder, and adventure.
