Tito’s & DUG Call for Volunteers to Help Revitalize Cedar Park

On June 13th, Denver community members 21+ are invited to help transform Cedar Park into a productive green space. Thanks to support from Tito’s and local volunteers, the overlooked green area in West Denver will become a thriving community cornerstone by turning the underutilized park into a:

  • Vibrant Food Forest: Part of DUG’s Etkin Family Foundation Food Forest Program, the food forest consists of trees, shrubs, bushes and vines that provide a source of fresh food and produce for Denver residents with limited food access. In addition, DUG provides training and support for community members to continue caring for the site.
  • Welcoming Community Garden: DUG community gardens provide a space for individuals to grow healthy and organic food, increasing access to communities facing food insecurity while also fostering a connection among neighbors.
  • Therapeutic Gardening Oasis: DUG’s Therapeutic Garden Program creates safe, restorative environments for individuals experiencing trauma, sensory challenges, or simply seeking a calm space. Since launching in 2023, this initiative has touched the lives of nearly 2,000 people through four dedicated garden spaces, and Cedar Park will soon join that healing network. These outdoor refuges offer individuals a place to develop new skills and recharge outdoors.

Additionally, Denver faces one of the most intense urban heat island effects in the country, with paved surfaces and limited tree cover causing some neighborhoods to be significantly hotter than others, especially in areas like West Denver. Supported by Tito’s donation, this project directly combats the issue by increasing green infrastructure. The addition of trees, planter beds, and soil restoration from June 13th’s volunteer event will not only cool the surrounding environment but also improves air quality, supports biodiversity, and creates more livable, resilient neighborhoods.
